About
Who we are
Generations Family Health Center, Inc. (Generations) is a private, not-for-profit, regional Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving eastern Connecticut since 1984. Its first site opened in Willimantic under the auspices of the Windham Area Community Action Program (now ACCESS Agency, Inc). In 1991, the health center separately incorporated as HealthFirst, Inc. later changing its name to Generations Family Health Center, Inc.
Our locations
Generations opened additional primary care sites in the Danielson borough of the town of Killingly (1993), the city of Norwich (1994), the town of Putnam (2009), and the Putnam School Based Health Center (2014). From 2002 to 2020, Generations provided oral health care in the community through our Across the Smiles Mobile Dental program. In 2024, we began providing medical and dental services on a Mobile Health Unit that holds clinics in communities throughout eastern Connecticut.
Our services
Today, Generations provides a full continuum of primary health care, oral health care, behavioral health care, support services and care coordination services to a primarily medically underserved population including children, at-risk families, HIV, homeless, and migrant populations through sites in Willimantic, Norwich, Danielson, Putnam, the Putnam School Based Health Center and on our Mobile Health Unit. In addition, Generations operates numerous community programs that are focused on special populations including: Agricultural Farmworkers; Children in Fostercare; Health Care to the Homeless; Ryan White Title C and D Early Intervention programs.
