
WHAT IS COVID-19?
COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. This type of coronavirus was not detected before 2019. You can get COVID-19 through contact with another person who has the virus. It is predominantly a respiratory illness that can affect other organs. People with COVID-19 have experienced a wide range of symptoms ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms may include:
- fever or chills
- cough
- shortness of breath
- fatigue
- muscle or body aches
- headache
- new loss of taste or smell
- sore throat
- congestion or runny nose
- nausea or vomiting
- diarrhea

Getting vaccinated is the first step you can take to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

- Generations Family Health Center carries a limited amount of the current covid-19 vaccine, if you are a patient, and are interested in receiving please make an appointment to discuss options with your primary care clinician. All current vaccines are available at your local pharmacy.

COVID-19 Testing:
Generations is able to provide patients with COVID-19 Rapid Self Testing Kits that can be performed anywhere. This includes patients seen for medical, dental or behavioral health care, or for an appointment with our staff who assist with access to insurance or other community resources.
If you are not a Generations patient, you can call 211 or visit the CT Testing Locator at https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus/Covid-19-Knowledge-Base/COVID-19-Testing to locate the nearest PCR testing site, which may include local hospitals, pharmacies or state-contracted test facilities.
