Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

Generations Family Health Center, Inc. is a regional community health center covering a thirty seven town rural region in eastern Connecticut with sites located in Willimantic, Danielson, Norwich and Putnam.  Our dedicated staff provides a full range of primary care services to all ages including medical, dental and behavioral health care, as well as care coordination and community outreach. In addition to our main facilities, we offer mobile programs and School Based Health Centers.

Job Summary:  Generations Family Health Center seeks a business-minded Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) to manage the end-to-end success of this highly impactful, patient-focused organization. The CEO administers, implements, and directs all aspects of the roughly $30M non-profit organization in accordance with the policies of the Board of Directors and funding agencies. The candidate will provide vision, leadership, and direction to guide the organization towards its goals while maintaining an effective working relationship with senior management and the Board of Directors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implements, directs and evaluates the effectiveness of administrative management necessary to carry out the agency's program(s) as described in the corporate health care plan.
  • Organizes and coordinates the functions of all sites through appropriate departmentalization and delegation of duties.
  • Coordinates and integrates administrative management with the clinical aspects of the agency's overall programs and presents information to the governing Board as basis for sound decisions when rendering policy and program directives.
  • Develops and maintains effective public relations with the community, other health care institutions, providers, civic organizations, national, state and local groups.
  • Develops and formalizes project program plans and policy changes in accordance with the governance decisions of the Board of Directors and funding agencies.
  • Interprets corporate policy and makes administrative decisions soliciting the input of each department and the Board; makes necessary changes and improvements in the existing administrative procedures and practices.
  • Prepares job descriptions in conjunction with the senior management staff, recruits potential staff, orients new employees, hires, supervises, discharges employees.
  • Develops/maintains agency personnel policies and procedures subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures that personnel management contributes to the maximum utilization of person power toward efficient implementation of the agency's programs.
  • Directs the development of standards and methods used to assess the activities of the agency with respect to the feasibility, quality, productivity, costs, and other aspects of the agency's administration.
  • Implements an effective system of financial management and control to ensure that quality health care services are being rendered in a cost-effective manner, ensures that funds, personnel, equipment and supplies are utilized effectively in carrying out corporate policies and program plans.
  • Formulates, justifies and monitors the fiscal budget in accordance with limitations prescribed by the Board of Directors and funding agencies.
  • Submits timely and accurate reports and data to funding and regulatory agencies and other as required.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Board of Directors, its committees, clinical staff and community.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with other health care institutions and providers, national/ state/ local organizations and disseminates pertinent information concerning the agency's program in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and innovative programs related to health care administration and clinical management.
  • Ensures organization's adherence to HRSA standards.

Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of health care/business administration or clinical management required. 5+ years’ demonstrated experience in a C-Level position acceptable in lieu of a Master’s degree.

  • 10+ years progressively responsible administrative and management experience.
  • 3+ years of executive management experience in a healthcare related organization.
  • Relevant experience within the framework of a non-profit or multi-service health care facility.
  • High degree of health administration knowledge, initiative, creativity, diplomacy, visibility and the exercise of sound and responsible judgment.
  • Excellent business acumen with strong financial management skills.
  • Ability to present clear, concise and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with federal, state and local organizations and officials.
  • Ability to work within the community to build consensus and coalitions.

• Morning, afternoon, and evening appointments are available.

Who is eligible?

Children between the ages of 5 years and 18 years (as of 12/16/21).

Children must have been seen for care in any discipline at Generations or received a COVID -19 test at Generations at any site in 2021.

For this clinic, any Windham Public School Student - Note: We are making a one-time exception for Windham Public School students for this all-day clinic and accepting appointments for any children regardless of whether they’ve been to Generations or not prior to this appointment
